Specialised Group Programs
Social Anxiety, Public speaking anxiety, Why worry?, Healthy eating/healthy living and Mindfulness Training
We have developed a number of specialized group therapy programs that aim to provide practical strategies for participants to reduce difficulties they are experiencing. Addressing problems in a group setting allows individuals to gain support from being alongside other people who understand their experiences. This can assist with motivation. Group treatment also provides the opportunity to target a specific issue and to work in a structured manner. Group treatment can precede or follow individual treatment- or can stand on its own.
We offer groups throughout the year. Some of the areas include:
- Social anxiety- A practically focused group that aims to assist individuals to develop strategies to address excessive social anxiety
- Public speaking anxiety- A group aimed specifically at assisting individuals to learn strategies to cope with anxiety experienced in public speaking situations
- Why Worry?- a group aimed at assisting people who worry excessively to reduce the amount of time and energy they utilize worrying
- Healthy Eating/Healthy Living- This programme aims to assist individuals who are struggling with managing their weight and motivating themselves to change their lifestyle and dietary habits. The programme focusses on: Increasing motivation, Improving self esteem and self confidence, Issues with body image and Stress management and improved problem solving.
- Mindfulness Training- Mindfulness is a well-validated group of strategies that can be useful in addressing anxiety, depression and other negative mood states. We run a very practically oriented group that aims to provide participants with strategies that they can use to manage stress and enhance general well-being after the group has finished.
All groups generally run for six consecutive weeks and attendance is generally expected each week a program runs. Costs to attend the groups vary. For more information about groups at the Clinic, please call 9035 5180.
